You practise turning a rough transcript or your own scribbled points into clean minutes with decisions, owners and next steps listed separately. The output is a one-page summary you can send within minutes of the call, plus a short list of actions to track.

For reports, you learn to give the assistant your data points and ask for a structured draft, then check every claim against your source. For research, you learn to ask for a comparison, request sources, and verify them yourself, because AI tools can state wrong things confidently. The output is a first draft report and a short research brief with checked references.

You use AI to explain a formula you inherited, write a new one from a plain description, clean up messy columns and suggest ways to summarise a table. The output is a working formula or a tidier sheet, and you learn to test it on a few rows before trusting it.

Once the basics are comfortable, you connect steps together so a routine job runs with less effort: collect the input, ask the model to process it, and send the result for your approval. Typical examples are weekly summaries and standard replies. The output is a simple workflow you can reuse every week.
